And Luca makes three!

Well Luca now makes us three and we couldn't be happier about it! Just yesterday (sunday) we were finally able to take our little man home from the hospital. This was not before one long week of visiting him in the NICU (neonatal intensive care) It was so sad seeing him hooked up to so many tubes and monitors and lights and iv's.

Luca Josiah came in to the world via c-section on Saturday, August 27th weighing 9 lbs and 5 oz and is a whopping 23 inches long. His feet are as long as Lars' index finger and he has large thick hands as well. Where did he get that???

Our natural childbirth in water started to become less of an issue after trying an herbal induction from hell that did nothing. We then planned for inducing at Ball Hospital on the 42nd week of my pregnancy. After lots of labor and even pushing, we realized it was not going to be possible. Maybe the head would have made it, but there was a large risk of his shoulders getting stuck and at that point i was exhausted and irrational! Off to surgery I was whisked and next thing we knew....there he was. This enormously long baby that just kept coming and coming! (by the way, doesn't Lars look cute in scrubs??)

We loved being at the hospital and thought that it was a really wonderful experience to grow together and we were so well cared for. It was hard to leave Luca each night (i was discharged Tuesday) Each time it got a little worse and i even would call in the middle of the night to check on him.

He is now eating like pro...or is at least getting there. Lars and I just love him to pieces and are totally nuts over everything that he does. By 9 this morning he was already on his third outfit and second blanket! Life has completely changed into something very different , but oh so cool! We are truly blessed to have Luca. By the way, Luca means bringer of light and Josiah means Jehovah heals. We have already seen both of those be true.
