fatherhat

Maybe you wonder about the title of this blog, maybe not. I love changing words so that you can truly see how strange their origins are. Maria says that I am like the father in the movie "My big fat Greek wedding".........Tis' ees a woerd from the Greek.....bla bla. Anyway.....All words are Danish at the root..........Just keep digging if it appears to be German, Latin, Russian or even Chinese. So, I am wearing this HAT now; does it fit? Being a father is kind of like going to a clothing store and trying on a hot pink suit. People will tell you that you look great in the suit but you are just not quite sure until you have worn it on the dance floor with Bee Gees "Night Fever" blasting. Maybe you didn't get the point and that is OK, I am a foreigner after all and we are to be misunderstood, chuckle! I love being a father and I am beginning to feel like the suit is fitting well. My good friend Matt reminded me of when his son was born and I got to hold that little guy in the hospital, I was freaked out of my mind. Now I am juggling little Luca like a Carnie with fiery torches.
Life is going well and we have found a rhythm in our daily life. To most people that sounds perfect, but Maria and I are constantly finding ourselves reevaluating the way we live life in this world. Sometimes being comfortable is not the answer for long. Sometimes making that extra buck is not so attractive if you have to exchange it for precious minutes with the ones you love. Sometimes we look for home close to where we live and other moments we realize that we are closest to home far away from where we live, with each other and the one who brought us together from across the ocean.
