Vecinos, part 2
We live in a building now with 6 other apartments. Our "vecinos" or neighbors, are all just great! When we moved in, we realized that a college girl from our church is our upstairs neighbor. There is a sweet old lady next door to us that brought us peanut butter fudge and sometimes brings over the Sunday paper when she is finished with it. Lars has helped her scrape her car and take her trash out when its really slick. She doesn't talk much, but we like her. The ladies across the hall are from the Philippines (i think). After giving her a Christmas card, she returned the next day with wrapped gifts for our boys. She is getting her masters degree in physical therapy at Ball State. Upstairs is a nice old man who is a little quirky! He likes to talk about the weather and has been living in our complex longer than anyone else in the whole place. Next to him is a Korean couple who have a dog that they dress in sweaters. The kids love "Cookie." They are a very shy couple, but we are intrigued by them nonetheless.
For the most part, it is really great living in a building with so many people. We are learning about being good neighbors and how that sometimes means putting ourselves out there and feeling a little silly in order to reach out our neighbors. (like when I made Lars deliver cupcakes to the Koreans on New Years Eve!) Oh well..at least we have the kids as buffers!

Does Vecinos mean neighbors? I did not know that!
