Just an open book!

Do you know the feeling of when things are really winding down, getting down to the wire. I sort of have that feeling these days. For so long it has seemed as if we were not going anywhere and we had sort of gotten stuck in some serious mud with no 4-wheel drive to bail us out. This is the first time that I am writing on our blog in months, it has has been all Maria, I have not been able to write just one line. Sure I can think of several new pieces of furniture that I have put together in my mind. I am so one track that it is not even funny; but there is something good about being one track....! God really speaks to me through these ideas. For example when you are thinking about putting a piece of furniture together you always need instructions and then you throw them away because the make no sense whatsoever. Have you ever bought something from IKEA that you had to build yourself? To me those pieces are fairly easy to pound together and I really don't need the instructions I simply look at the last picture and determine what it will look like after I have squeezed the last drop of glue out of the little pouches( am i the only one who knows about these things?). The real truth is that sometimes looking at the last illustration of the finished piece is not enough; I think it is until I realize that step 6 was before step 8.......not to mention the missing step 7 which is in a separate box that remains unopened.
This evening Maria and I were praying about our future and the parts of life that seem to be coming to an end, we both had a different vision of what God is doing with us. I saw myself kneeling on a great big work plan for a piece of furniture with lots of pictures and drawings but with no finished furniture. Maria had a vision of a large book left with it's empty pages showing. I am often reluctant to do anything if I don't have a clear idea of what the end product is, but I feel that God is asking me to leave that behind and start with picture # 1.
If I have left you wondering about glue in pouches and IKEA then we need to talk about a field trip to the Swedish wonderland of pressed boards, strangely named items, lingon berry juice and delicious meat balls not to mention the best breakfast for 2 bucks, ever(quote Maria)

PS: This song was in my head as we were praying........It drives me nuts because WLBC always plays it, but I love the lyrics.

"Unwritten" Natasha Beddingfield

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin

The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
