Is vacation a state of mind?

I was amazed that 4 and maybe even 5 of the 11 kids in Luca's preschool class were heading to Florida for Spring Break. I'm not gonna lie, I would LOVE to be down there with my lil blondies on the beach, but this was not the year for that. We DID have a great time here though. We had some friends' 12 year old daughter hanging out with us for the week which was a special treat for the boys and time with her was really enjoyable for me, too.
It must have been a state of mind for me, because it really did feel like a vacation!
Monday we babysat for a friend's 3 kids and then had a play day with another family of 3.
Tuesday I had a great Bible Study at church and our friend helped with the kids in the nursery. We had impromptu lunch guests which was a fun surprise, as well.
Wednesday we went to Shadyside Park in Anderson with our best buddies

This picture is a real treat for me. I have only one or maybe two pictures with my girlfriends. I already treasure this one, but I know a year from now and an ocean apart it will be more special.

Thursday we spent the day at the Indianapolis Children's Museum with another girlfriend and her 2 little girls. They braved the Bob the Builder exhibit with gusto, although admittedly they were most attracted to Wendy's pink trailer and flower garden!

Friday we went to Vecinos for a muffin tops, Hannah had a tasty hot chocolate and I drank tea, as I had already downed three cups of coffee before hitting the cafe! We dropped Luca off for a play day with another friend and after Silas went to bed Hannah and I vegged out with a movie on the couch.
Tomorrow we are planning to watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs at a free kids show in Indy and then picnic at Fort Harrison. Luca is actually saying that he doesn't want to go back to school because his spring break is so fun. (this wouldn't seem like a big deal for most kids, but this preschooler LOVES school and begs to go). I feel honored that he has enjoyed the time as much as I have.
So, here are my ponderings. Has it felt like a vacation because
-of a helpful 12 year old?
-doing LOTS of fun things WITH the kids and not just shoveling them around places?
-mentally deciding it was going to be?
...whatever it is...I'll take it
